The National Center for Equal Opportunities is an independent non-governmental organization, which was established in 1998 under an agreement between the United Nations Development Programme and the Slovak government. The creation of center was part of the recommendations fulfillment, which were adopted during the United Nations World Conference for Women in Peking, to which the Slovak government applied. It provides services aimed at:

  1. raising the awareness and quality of women’s lives and coming together to seek solutions to problems connected to the quality of their lives and those of their families;

  2. prevention and elimination of domestic violence and social and legislative protection for children.
